How Firm is your Foundation?
Time flies by so quickly doesn't it? Some days go by so quickly I have trouble remembering even one thing that happened, one thing to be grateful for. Some days, I'm not even sure what day it is! Then there's the volleying of political garbage from one side to the other that seems to heap so much on our shoulders it becomes nearly unbearable. Many days, especially now that most of the leaves are gone and the world around me is mostly brown, I just want to stay in bed, pull the covers over my head and hide from everything. Yet there is still so much to do, so many upcoming events to prepare for, it's harvest season.
It is in this flurry of seemingly endless chaos, that I am reminded of the foundation I stand on personally and we all stand on as a nation. This gentle reminder gives me such peace amidst the chaos and allows me to see beyond it to the Kingdom reality that exists among the chaos. You see, Jesus is my firm foundation, the one who bears my burdens, the one who calms the storms and keeps my feet from sinking in sand. God is my strong tower, my ever present help in time of need, my protector, provider and deliverer, he takes care of all the details, what more do I really need? God is this and more to our nation. He built this nation on a firm foundation, one that is rooted in His Truth, His ways, covered in prayer and sparkling with His Light. While this nation, over the last 2 generations, has begun to add on to our nation things not in alignment with this foundation, we've reached a point where what was added will fail and fall away and the firm foundation will still stand. I see our Constitutions (both Federal and State) as our covenant with God, our promise to establish our nation and state under His principles and guidance. When we stay within the shadow of His wings, we have peace and prosperity. When we add on outside of the foundation, things get shaken, they begin to crumble, then they fall and we have to sift through the pieces and rebuild those that align with the foundation. I believe in this nation we are in the middle of the shaking, watching the false gods , the rulers and principalities in the unseen realm screaming and lashing out as their power crumbles amidst the firm hand of our Father God. In this whirlwind of chaos, I cling to the still small voice of Jesus that calms the storm within, His voice so filled with love melts stony hearts, his kindness causes the false beliefs to melt away so we can see the Kingdom Truth. To me, that's all that matters!
Breathe, seek His Kingdom amidst the chaos, thank Him for the stories of healings, praise Him that He is in control and we have nothing to fear, hear the love of Jesus flowing as you carry on a conversation with the person behind you in the check out lane, see the love of Jesus in a new mother photographing their miracle baby, share the burden others carry by being Jesus' hands and feet in their time of need. In those moments, even within the chaos swirling around, remember those moments, treasure them, store them in your heart. It keeps it beating with the love of God and our nation and this world really needs more of that right now!
